Learning Mentor
Contract type: Permanent
Work pattern: 30 hours per week, Term time only (38 weeks)
Salary information: Scale 5, £22,793 - £23,810 per annum (dependent upon experience)
Start date: May 2026
We are looking for a Learning Mentor to join our staff in this friendly and diverse school community.
Our last Learning Mentor says this:
- I work with the safeguarding team to keep children safe in education.
- I work with children who find it difficult to settle in school.
- I work with children individually, in class and in groups as part of the intervention team.
- I work with the children and their parents together.
- I plan for and teach small groups of children across EYFS and KS1 to develop and improve different skills in a nurturing environment.
- I work closely with colleagues in school.
- I organise lunch time activities.
- I run clubs for children at lunchtime.
- I run different groups for different children according to their needs, such as Basic Skills, phonics, PALS.
- I have been trained to work with emotionally vulnerable children.
- I work alongside families and organisations to support children with learning and behaviour.
- Every day is different.
Does this sound like something that would interest you?
If so we are looking for a Learning Mentor with:
- Experience of working as a teaching assistant or nursery nurse with infant children.
- The ability to listen and advise.
- Previous experience of working with vulnerable children.
- An understanding of the causes that lead to children’s different behaviours.
- The skills to support parents from a diversity of backgrounds.
- The desire to see all our children succeed.
- An understanding of child development.
