Learning Mentor

Contract type:

Work pattern: 30 hours per week, Term time only (38 weeks)
Salary information: Scale 5, £22,793 - £23,810 per annum (dependent upon experience)
Start date: May 2026

We are looking for a Learning Mentor to join our staff in this friendly and diverse school community. 

Our last Learning Mentor says this:

  • I work with the safeguarding team to keep children safe in education.
  • I work with children who find it difficult to settle in school.
  • I work with children individually, in class and in groups as part of the intervention team.
  • I work with the children and their parents together.
  • I plan for and teach small groups of children across EYFS and KS1 to develop and improve different skills in a nurturing environment.
  • I work closely with colleagues in school.
  • I organise lunch time activities.
  • I run clubs for children at lunchtime.
  • I run different groups for different children according to their needs, such as Basic Skills, phonics, PALS.
  • I have been trained to work with emotionally vulnerable children.
  • I work alongside families and organisations to support children with learning and behaviour.
  • Every day is different.

Does this sound like something that would interest you?

If so we are looking for a Learning Mentor with:

  • Experience of working as a teaching assistant or nursery nurse with infant children.
  • The ability to listen and advise.
  • Previous experience of working with vulnerable children.
  • An understanding of the causes that lead to children’s different behaviours.
  • The skills to support parents from a diversity of backgrounds.
  • The desire to see all our children succeed.
  • An understanding of child development.
