Contract type: Full time, Permanent
Work pattern: 36 hours per week, All Year Around (52 weeks) - Flexible working considered
Location: Central Team Office, Cowley St Laurence Primary (covering 7 primary schools and central functions)
Salary information: Scale 5, £31,524 - £32,931 per annum (dependent upon experience)

Our Finance team is growing, and we are now looking for a Payroll and Pensions Officer to join us! This is a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated payroll professionals with previous experience, ideally within an education setting.

You will be responsible for a section of payroll for day-to-day processing, inputting and calculations associated with providing an excellent payroll service. You will be organised, self-motivated, and able to work to tight deadlines, working closely with our Finance Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee payroll processing, ensure accuracy and timeliness, manage external payroll provider relationships, and maintain compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Liaise with pension providers, ensure accurate contributions and statutory returns, and respond to pension-related queries.
  • Act as the first point of contact for payroll and pension queries, work closely with school administrators and the central Finance team, and build strong internal and external relationships.
  • Ensure audit and statutory compliance, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports for the CFO as required.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have proven experience in payroll and pensions administration, within the education sector or a similar statutory organisation.
  • Have strong knowledge of statutory requirements related to payroll, HMRC, and pension schemes.
  • Have excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Be professional and solution-focused communication skills.
  • Have the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Have strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Have a commitment to safeguarding children and upholding confidentiality.
