School Midday Supervisory Assistant
Salary information: Scale 2, £5,012 - £5,083 per annum (depending on experience)
Work pattern: 7.5 hours per week, Term time only (38 weeks)
Work hours: Monday - Friday, 11:45am - 1:15pm

Purpose of the Job:
To ensure the safety, welfare, and positive behaviour of pupils during the lunchtime period. This includes carrying out general lunchtime supervision duties and providing targeted support to an identified pupil with SEND to promote inclusion, independence, and wellbeing.
Main Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Supervise pupils in the dining hall, playground, corridors, and other designated areas.
- Assist pupils with accessing their lunch and promote healthy eating and positive social interaction.
- Provide direct support to an identified pupil with SEND, following guidance from the SENCo and class teacher.
- Use agreed strategies, including communication aids, sensory support, behavioural approaches, or structured routines.
- Encourage positive play and support pupils to engage in appropriate activities during lunchtime.
- Apply school behaviour policies and restorative approaches as needed.
- Report any concerns regarding wellbeing, safety, or behaviour to the Senior SMSA or designated safeguarding lead.
- Support transitions between dining, play, and return to class.
- Help maintain a clean and safe environment, including tidying dining areas.
- In the event of any injuries to the pupil, refer the pupil to the School Welfare Officer for medical attention.
- To follow accident reporting procedures at all times.
- In the event of any sickness to the pupils, clean the pupil and the affected area and refer the pupil to the School Welfare Officer.
- Attend required training sessions, including safeguarding, first aid, and SEND training.
