School Business Manager
Contract type: Full time, Permanent
Salary information: POC, £53,172 - £57,402 per annum (dependent upon experience)
Work pattern: 36 hours per week, All year around (52 weeks, TTO would be considered for the right candidate)
Hours of work: 8:30am - 4:30pm with 1 hour lunch break (hours are negotiable)
Start date: 1st September 2026
The Governors of Saint Jérôme Church of England Bilingual School are looking to appoint a highly motivated, effective and compassionate leader as School Business Manager to lead the business functions of our busy school. We are seeking an experienced individual with strong financial skills who is passionate about building on our past successes, can work under pressure and efficiently support the headteacher and the wider Senior Leadership Team.
This school is a single academy trust which opened in 2016, when the current incumbent worked with other founding staff to develop our highly successful school. As a Church of England, bilingual (French) school, applicants will be expected to support our ethos. A French speaker is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will need to be in post by 1st September 2026 and be available for a full handover during the summer holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Strategy: Line-manage support staff, lead resource planning, implement school improvements, and contribute to senior leadership and strategic decision-making.
- Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, financial planning, reporting, audits, and ensure compliance with financial regulations and value for money.
- Income Generation & Procurement: Lead fundraising, secure grants, manage procurement processes, and oversee income from lettings and school services.
- Human Resources: Manage recruitment, payroll, staff structure, appraisals, and ensure HR policies comply with employment law.
- Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure site maintenance, health and safety compliance, policy updates, risk management, and statutory obligations are met.
- Administration & Operations: Oversee school administration, support leadership and governors, manage data protection, and ensure effective communication and record-keeping.
