Contract type: Permanent
Work pattern: 32.5 hours per week, Term time only (38 weeks)
Hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 3.30pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break
Salary information: Scale 4, £22,987 - £23,991 per annum (dependent upon experience)
Start date: November 2026
At Laurel Lane Primary School, we believe that children thrive when they feel safe, understood and that they truly belong.
We are looking for a warm, proactive and skilled Learning Mentor to join our inclusion team and play an important role in helping children overcome barriers to learning.
This is a varied and rewarding role. You will work closely with children who need additional social, emotional, behavioural or learning support, providing support within the classroom as well as through targeted individual and small-group interventions. You will help children develop the skills and confidence they need to regulate their emotions, build positive relationships and successfully access their learning. These responsibilities reflect the purpose and pupil-support duties set out in the job description.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is warm, empathetic and able to build trusting relationships with children and families.
- Understands that behaviour can be a form of communication and can respond calmly and consistently when children are finding things difficult.
- Has experience of supporting children with additional needs and understands the different barriers that can affect learning.
- Can plan and deliver purposeful 1:1 and small-group interventions, adapting support to meet individual needs.
- Can support identified children effectively within the classroom, working collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
- Can help children develop strategies to regulate their emotions, manage conflict, build confidence and become increasingly independent.
- Is creative, resourceful and has a'toolbox' of ideas for engaging and supporting children.
- Has excellent interpersonal skills and will fully immerse themselves in the life of Laurel Lane.
