Higher Level Teaching Assistant
SEND Informal Enhanced Provision

Conrtact type: Permanent
Salary information: Scale 6, £31,034 per annum (Full Time Equivalent, £35,515)
Work pattern: 36 hours a week, Term time only + INSET days (39 weeks)
Start date: September 2026

This is an exciting opportunity to work with our SENCo to establish and develop a new, Informal Enhanced Provision in our school. We are keen to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to take the lead in the day to day running of the Provision (a school-led initiative not commissioned by the Local Authority), being set up for September 2026. This is a permanent contract.

The successful candidate will work under supervision of the Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion (SENCo) and class teachers of pupils attending the Provision, working with them to support a small group of pupils with complex additional needs by planning, preparing and delivering a child-led bespoke curriculum. The HLTA will be responsible for line managing Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) working in the Provision, leading the team to ensure pupils thrive.

What can we offer?

  • An exciting opportunity to work with the SENCo to develop a new provision from the ground up.
  • Support from the SENCo and teachers.
  • Effective and embedded planning and assessment systems.
  • CPD opportunities for staff to enable career progression. The Elliot Foundation runs a number of apprenticeships and are enrolling for courses such as a Level 5 Assistant SENCo with HLTA status, from September 2026.

What kind of individual are we looking for?

  • An effective team member who is passionate about making a positive impact to ensure that all of our pupils flourish, including those with the most complex needs.
  • A committed individual who is dedicated to providing an engaging, positive learning environment.
  • An individual who has compassion, empathy and inclusion at the heart of their practice.
  • A HLTA who is both self-motivated and able to work in partnership with the SENCo, a variety of class teachers and LSAs.

A knowledge of various SEN needs is essential.

We are proud to be part of the Elliot Foundation and maximise the opportunities this presents to work with other academies for the benefit of our students and staff.  Further information regarding The Elliot Foundation Multi Academy Trust can be found at: http://www.elliotfoundation.co.uk
