Evening Caretaker
Salary information: Scale 3, £18,806 - £19,074 per annum (depending on experience)
Work hours: Monday - Thursday, 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm; plus possibility of working every other Saturday 8:00 am - 5:30 pm by agreement as non-contractual overtime
Work pattern: 16 hours per week, All year round (52 weeks)
Contract type: Part time, Permanent

We are looking for a reliable and proactive Evening Caretaker to provide site supervision, security and support for community lettings outside of the school day. This is an important role in ensuring our school remains a safe, welcoming and well-managed environment for all users.
The postholder will be responsible for evening caretaking and security cover, overseeing school lettings and community use, completing full lock-up procedures, and ensuring all areas are left safe and ready for the next school day.
This is a 52-week post for 16 hours per week, 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Monday to Thursday, plus the possibility of non-contractual overtime on alternate Saturdays as agreed.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the main on-site contact for evening, weekend and holiday lettings
- Opening, setting up and securing rooms, halls and facilities
- Carrying out full site lock-up, including alarms and security checks
- Ensuring health, safety, safeguarding and fire procedures are followed
- Light cleaning, tidying and basic maintenance tasks
- Responding calmly and professionally to queries or incidents
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in caretaking, facilities, site supervision or a similar role
- Can work confidently and independently while being part of a team
- Understands the importance of site security and safeguarding
- Is physically able to carry out walking patrols and manual tasks
- Is supportive of the ethos and values of a Church of England school
