Heathrow Primary School is a large, diverse two form entry primary serving 398 pupils. We are proud of our Triple A vision — Attitude, Achievement, Aspiration — and of our welcoming, inclusive community. Over half our pupils speak English as an additional language and many are from disadvantaged backgrounds. We are expanding our breakfast and after school provision to support families and improve continuity of care for our pupils.

We are seeking a reliable, caring and energetic Play Assistant to join our wraparound team. You will work with class staff and club leaders to provide safe, stimulating and inclusive childcare before and after the school day. The role is school based and contributes directly to pupils’ wellbeing, social development and readiness to learn.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supervise, care for and engage pupils attending breakfast and after school club in line with school behaviour and safeguarding expectations.
  • Being able to develop an exciting After School Club curriculum.
  • Organise and lead age appropriate indoor and outdoor play, creative activities and quiet time/homework support.
  • Prepare and serve light breakfasts and snacks, following dietary and hygiene requirements.
  • Maintain accurate registers and ensure safe handover of pupils to parents/carers.
  • Support inclusion: adapt activities for pupils with SEND and EAL needs; work with key staff to follow individual plans where required.
  • Promote positive behaviour, modelling the school’s values and rules.
  • Maintain a safe, tidy environment and report any safeguarding, welfare or health and safety concerns to the club leader/designated safeguarding lead.
  • Work as part of a team, participating in staff briefings and occasional training.
