The role of the skills coaches, who mentor pupils, has led to strong relationships that have changed pupil attitudes to their own safety. There is a culture of openness where no challenging topic is off limits.

Providing the Tools for Mastery.

The Skills Hub is a secondary alternative provision under the Orchard Hill College Academy Trust, predominantly working with students who are at risk of, or are permanently excluded from mainstream education.

We specialise in a duty of care towards those pupils, whose education has reached a point of crisis. We help each pupil to build a happy, healthy and successful future by preparing them for return to mainstream school, to enter the world of work or to pursue further education or training. In addition, they are encouraged to have good behaviour, a healthy lifestyle and a willingness to take responsibility.

Our aim at The Skills Hub is to provide a therapeutic environment that will support our young people’s academic journey and psychological well-being. We offer a varied curriculum and range of programmes, so to create an individualised learning package for each pupil. This includes entry to public examinations and work related learning in Key Stage 4.
