Preparing the way for others to follow
Pioneer Educational Trust is a small but perfectly formed multi-academy trust in Berkshire with big ambitions.
Our MAT originated from Upton Court Grammar School in Slough. The MAT was established in January 2014 as Upton Court Educational Trust when Foxborough Primary School, Slough, joined us as a sponsored academy. We then grew in November 2016 when Trevelyan Middle School, in Windsor, joined our MAT as a converter academy.
In September 2017, we made the significant decision to rename the organisation to Pioneer Educational Trust in recognition that all schools are valued as equal partners.
Pioneer Educational Trust was established by Mercedes Hernandez Estrada who is now one of our Members. When Mercedes took up the coveted position of Principal of the British Council School of Madrid, we Eddie Neighbour and Antonia Spinks took on the role of Co-CEO and, since September 2018, have led the organisation with pride, determination and purpose. The co-leadership model has brought significant benefits and we believe demonstrates a pioneering approach to school leadership.
We are a values-led, evidence-informed organisation that acts in line with our commitment to provide all pupils with equal access to an outstanding education. Driving equality and celebrating diversity is at the heart of what we do – our schools are diverse learning communities with their own unique contexts and needs, which we celebrate and draw strength from.
