Chalvey Nursery School and Slough Centre Nursery School joined together in a soft federation in September 2010. Each school kept their own identity and their own governing body but shared a headteacher.

During the next 3 years, the two schools formed a close relationship, working together to share resources, trainings and best practice. This meant that we could focus on raising standards for our children giving them a fantastic education. We have benefitted from the different expertise on each site and we have worked on cross-site projects.

To ensure this continued, in April 2013 the two schools formalised this working relationship and we are now a hard federation (The TLC Nursery Federation) sharing a governing body.

"I consider Chalvey Nursery as a home from home; it is filled with colour, fun and opportunities for the children to learn. Above all, the children are able to slowly blossom into confident little beings, aided by well-educated staff that demonstrate that sincerity, passion and love for what they do."

At Chalvey Nursery School & Early Years Centre we aim to provide a fun, child centred environment which will stimulate children to become independent learners.

We aim to provide a well-resourced, exciting and challenging curriculum, which promotes active learning through play.

We aim to work in partnership with parents to encourage positive attitudes to learning, high levels of self-esteem and increasing levels of independence.

The school community believes that our aims can be achieved by putting the children’s learning at the heart of everything we do to empower children to:
  • explore, discover and make sense of their world
  • make choices, take decisions and develop independence skill
  • play with others, learning the skills of social interaction
  • develop an appreciation for their learning environment and treat the environment with care and respect.
Follow their own learning journeys through developing self-esteem, self-confidence and a sense of their own identity by.
  • providing a caring and supportive environment
  • being an inclusive setting that appreciates the uniqueness of the individual child.
  • celebrating the successes of all individuals no matter how small to develop a committed & appreciative learning environment.
  • developing dynamic, innovative and creative practice based on research into how young children learn
  • involving the whole school community in the day to day life of the school to enrich the children’s learning opportunities.
