Salary information: Scale 3, £21,401 - £21,753 per annum + Special Schools Allowance: £1,208

We are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic individuals with experience of working with children and adolescents with special educational needs. 

The successful candidate will be working within an established Therapy and Welfare Team, within an SEN secondary school recently OFSTED rated as Good. You will be working with students aged 11-19 years who have a wide variety of conditions including autistic spectrum disorder, global developmental delay, specific language disorders, and respiratory, neurological and neuromuscular pathologies. At this time, we are particularly interested in people who have a specific interest and/or skill set  within Speech and Language Therapy or Occupational Therapy  who may want to develop their career in this field.

The post provides an excellent opportunity for consolidating and/or expanding your knowledge and skills as well as contributing to the continuing development of an effective and high-quality service. Meadow High School is committed to developing all pupils' independence and life skills and to preparing all our pupils for ‘Life after Meadow’ through a highly personalised curriculum tailored to the individual pupils' needs. 

The candidate will deliver therapy groups and individual programmes under the supervision of the Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist, in order to achieve students’ therapy outcomes/goals. The work will also involve assisting with the office administration for the therapy team. The successful candidate will need to work closely with class-based staff to ensure that pupil’s therapeutic needs are met across the school.

The successful candidate will need to have great communication skills and an ability to work effectively across teams, supporting colleagues and pupils across the school. This post provides many exciting opportunities including assessment, group work, one to one therapy and class-based interventions, working in collaboration with teaching staff, teaching assistants, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and rehabilitation assistants.

The Therapy Team is responsible for integrating clinical intervention across all aspects of an educational curriculum ensuring that pupils are able to readily access and engage in learning. All therapy staff are supported by the Therapy Team Lead and by senior clinicians across the therapy disciplines.
