Are you looking for a challenging but highly rewarding post in a unique special education Setting?

Sunshine House Specialist Setting for blind and visually impaired learners is looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to join our supportive class teams as we take a monumental step towards an exciting future within the Eden Academy.

We are seeking applications from people who desire a dynamic role which utilises their skills of observation, questioning and creativity to support our sensory-impaired learners with additional complex needs. This is a role where every day is different and constantly presents new learning opportunities, adding to your skills as you help our pupils achieve amazing outcomes.

There is potential for real career progression for the right candidates, particularly those with experience in the fields of Education and healthcare or those who thrive on building their skills through training and teamwork.

Sunshine House is a most welcoming and highly specialised setting, catering specifically for blind and visually-impaired learners with additional complex needs, aged 3-14 years old. We have recently joined the Eden Academy as part of Grangewood and Moorcroft schools, having worked in close collaboration with this multi-academy trust for many years.

We are now seeking to add to our skilled class teams as we prepare, over the next few years, to create a new all-through special school for learners up to 19 years of age.

As a teaching assistant you will be supporting a teacher by working with pupils individually and in small groups. You will help our pupils in all aspects of their day so that they can access the curriculum as fully as possible. Working alongside our diverse multi-professional team, there are extensive opportunities for training and professional development. There will be opportunities to contribute to cross-school teams both in school and throughout the Academy family of special schools.

We currently have a permanent position available. We are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking people, with a passion for working with children and those with additional needs. We are looking for the right person who can quickly understand the challenges faced by our pupils and respond with a passionate can-do attitude.

We offer a comprehensive and bespoke induction programme for all new staff and you will be supported by a large and caring team.
