Salary information: Starting at £28,792, rising annually to £31,082 per annum (Scale 5 inclusive of Outer London Weighting) 
Work pattern: 40 hours per week, Term time only + five INSET days (39 weeks)
Hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Start date: September 2024

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly effective individual to become our Sixth Form Learning Mentor. This role would be ideally suited to a recent graduate who is looking to enter the teaching profession and/or work in education.    

This role will include working with post-16 students to support their learning and maximise their chance of success at university and beyond including helping them develop both their academic and wider skills. 

The successful applicant will:
  • Act as a role model and mentor for learners, implementing and monitoring strategies to raise aspirations and attainment in students and encourage progression to higher education and beyond;
  • Have knowledge of current career options for students and first-hand knowledge of the UCAS application process;
  • Plan and implement various learning strategies to help support students in achieving their potential;
  • Develop good relationships with all students by establishing a positive, professional presence within the Sixth Form and responding appropriately to individual needs;
  • Encourage the development of academic skills.
Ruislip High School is an outstanding, oversubscribed, 11-18, mixed comprehensive school with over one thousand students on roll and we have recently undergone an exciting phase of expansion, including a brand new sixth form centre. We obtain excellent results. In the summer of 2023, 55% of students attained a grade 5 or above in English and Maths with 25% of students attaining a strong pass (grade 5 or above) in the Ebacc measure; at A Level, 26% of all grades were A* to A, with 25% of Year 13 students securing places at Russell Groups universities and two students securing places at Oxford or Cambridge.
