SEN School Meals Supervisory Assistant

Salary information: Scale 2, Points 3-4: £4,316 - £4,387 + SSA £251 per annum 
Hours of work: 7.5 hours per week, Term time only + 5 induction days (39 weeks)
Work pattern: Monday to Friday, 12.30pm - 2.00pm
Start date: As soon as possible 
Contract type: Permanent

We require 6 SEN SMSA’s to supervise and support students with SEN and challenging behaviour and/or severe and complex learning difficulties during the lunchtime break. To supervise during the lunchtime break, this includes managing and supporting the children's play opportunities. To ensure the safety, welfare and good conduct of pupils at lunchtime. 

Due to our expanding role and the changing needs of our students, an opportunity has arisen for a number of SEN SMSA’s to join our dedicated team of staff.  

Meadow High School is a special needs school, which provides education for secondary aged students aged 11-19 years with moderate and complex needs including challenging behaviour and autism. The post involves supervising pupils during the lunch time break, ensuring the safety, welfare and good conduct of pupils at lunchtime and managing and supporting the children’s play opportunities. Energy, fitness and enthusiasm to work with these pupils is required. Applicants should have:
  • A First Aid qualification (desirable)
  • Previous experience of working/helping in a school
  • Ability to guide and supervise children
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality
  • Willingness to be flexible
  • Be patient, tolerant, sympathetic and, fair but firm
