This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy and highly specialist SEND setting and work alongside a very supportive multi-disciplinary therapy team within the Eden Academy Trust. You will be based at Sunshine House – an educational setting for pupils with vision impairment and complex physical, medical and learning needs. You will get to work all over the school site and work with a wide range of professionals and of course, our amazing children.

This hands-on role will see you working with pupils all over the school to help deliver therapy programmes, support physical transitions and facilitate the use of specialist equipment. You will also receive full specialist training to be a Manual Handling trainer – training staff in the safe handling of children with complex needs, updating pupil risk assessments and advising staff on safe transfers or safe use of equipment according to manual handling guidelines (i.e. use of hoists and slings).

We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic, flexible and are willing to fully participate in the life of a special school. A drive and determination to your own professional growth, including the learning of new skills is essential. We are looking for individuals who share the vision that every pupil should reach their full potential and strive for maximum independence in any way that is possible for them.

The ideal applicant will have experience within a therapy field or already be a successful classroom LSA / TA, supporting pupils with their individual therapy programmes and strategies, in and outside the classroom. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential to the role, as is the ability to take on and deliver training.

Each remarkable member of our staff team is committed to helping pupils become independent learners who can reach their individual potential. As part of the Eden Academy Trust, staff will have access to extensive expertise in special education and therapy plus a wide range of career development opportunities.
