Empowering minds, one book at a time. A school librarian's job is more than just books.
The Library at Bishop Ramsey is a large multi-use space, with the capacity to host 40 students studying privately or a class. As well as the fiction and non-fiction sections, it contains numerous journals to support 6th form study, DVDs and we also subscribe to an e-reading platform for digital books. Students and staff use the Library for form reading and for taught lessons, throughout KS3 and it can be booked in advance for a lesson for any subject or year group. Students study independently in the library at break and lunchtime, using their own laptops to complete homework, write journals, digitally draw and design and to read. It has its own digital information display and physical display section. The library hosts many competitions throughout the year, in conjunction with the English department.
We are now looking for a Librarian to help take our service provision to the next level.
This role is part-time (27.5 hours per week), ensuring that the library is open across the school day. Expected working hours are 8am to 2pm (including a half hour unpaid break).
Applicants should use the Support Staff application form, available here or on the school website. Once completed, both Equal Opportunities and Application Forms should be emailed to recruitment@bishopramsey.school.
