Meadow High School: “Achieving together”
Meadow High is a special school for students aged 11-19 with Moderate Learning Difficulties and additional Complexities. One of the UK’s largest secondary special schools, we have been consistently rated as a Good school. The school holds a number of national awards including the SEN Specialist Schools Award, the Inclusion Quality Mark Award and the International School Award.

To support the Local Authority we are expanding further with two new development projects. The first is a replacement block where our remaining temporary classrooms are situated. Once this is opened in September 2024, we will gradually expand to have around 300 pupils on the 'Royal Lane' site. The next project is a Satellite Unit based in Harefield village, called 'Northwood Road'. This will house up to 90 Pathway 1 pupils and should be ready for us to occupy in Autumn 2025.

Other in-house developments include: the construction of a Community Cafe and its supporting kitchen; the expansion and refurbishment of our Life and Living Skills house and garden; the development of a forest school area, expanded horticulture area, outdoor classroom and outdoor gym. We are also currently working with two outstanding practitioners to support our de-colonisation and anti-racism work and a wonderful organisation to support us with our diversity progress. We have also put a significant investment into our library and reading resources and are currently introducing our brand new Systematic Synthetic Phonics programs to the school. As you can see, things rarely stand still here.

The Governing Body is looking to appoint an inspirational and energetic Deputy Headteacher to work alongside our Headteacher, leading the school through its new developments.

What we want from our candidate:
  • An outstanding existing middle leader seeking progression, or an existing Deputy Headteacher seeking a new challenge.
  • A talented and influential leader, committed to maintaining a culture dedicated to continuous improvement, and to our values and aims.
  • A people manager and decision maker who will challenge the status quo and has the emotional intelligence and good humour to take others with them.
  • An empathic leader with extensive positive behaviour management skills.
  • A strategic leader with a focus on developing pupils knowledge and skills for 'Life Beyond Meadow'.
What we can offer you:
  • A vibrant, welcoming, well established and friendly school.
  • A school with pupils who enjoy school and thrive on their opportunities and achievements.
  • A talented and experienced staff team committed to giving our pupils the best opportunities for life.
  • A highly supportive and committed Governing Body.
  • Opportunities for CPD, especially in relation to leadership responsibly and career progression.
If you are interested in this fantastic opportunity and you are the exceptional leader we are seeking, we would like to hear from you.

If you would like to have an informal discussion with the Headteacher or to visit the school please contact Kaity Sanderson (Administration Officer) by emailing meadow@meadowhighschool.org.
