The Eden Academy Trust specialises in meeting the educational needs of children and young people with a range of learning disabilities including those who may be autistic and those who have physical or sensory needs.

We are a family of schools working together under one Academy Trust, led by our Board of Trustees, to blend the best educational and therapeutic practice. Our team approach ensures we work closely with families and carers to identify and meet all the needs of our young people.

Sunshine House School is part of Grangewood and Moorcroft schools, within the Eden Academy Trust. It is a specialist educational setting for blind and partially-sighted children who have significant learning difficulties and disabilities.

With a range of specialist indoor and outdoor facilities, we provide a safe and supportive environment for children between the ages of 3 and 14 years to enable them to meet their full potential.

We are looking to recruit a Catering Assistant to help prepare, cook and serve food for our pupils and staff in accordance with defined standards and quality, and working within DfE Guidelines in respect of current Health and Safety Policies. As most pupils have dysphagia needs, this will also include preparing meal options for various textures and consistencies, as per the IDDSI scale (training provided).

We would welcome applications from candidates who have experience of working in an appropriate environment with NVQ Food Preparation and Cooking Level 1 qualification and who are enthusiastic, flexible and are willing to participate fully in the life of a special school.

Like our pupils our setting is impossible to fully describe in words. Due to the unique setting that Sunshine House offers, visits to the school are strongly encouraged prior to applying for this role. Contact the school office on 01923 822538 to arrange a tour and find out first-hand what this role entails in our very special setting.

If you would like to speak to us prior to making your application, please telephone 01923 822538 to speak to Emma Langan at Sunshine House who will be very happy to discuss the role.

Closing date: Monday 2nd October 2023
Interviews: w/c Monday 16th October 2023
